Three Stress Management Techniques To Help You Stay Focused

You know that stress management is important, but it can be tough to figure out how to use stress management techniques in your day to day life. Check out these three simple ways to bring your stress down quickly when you're faced with an unexpected hard situation at work or at home.

Try grounding. Grounding is simple - it's a way to bring your attention to the present, so that your thoughts don't run wild. One simple grounding technique is to use all of your senses. Find something in the room you can touch, something you can taste, something you can see, something you can smell, and something you can hear. Zeroing in on each of your senses gives your mind a break from stress and can allow you to see the situation in a new way.

Change your environment. If possible, getting out of your office or home for a few minutes can work wonders to help you see things in a new light. Even a quick stroll around the block can give you the change of scenery that you need to refocus.

Allow yourself to feel the stress. While this sounds counterproductive, it can actually go a long way in helping you through a stressful time. Feel the emotion, honor it, and let it go. After you've allowed yourself to feel the stress, get solutions focused, and begin to find ways to move forward.
